The performance is what it's all about, and it's fresh every time.
MUSIC SUNDAY JULY 17TH: AJ Grey
Jessica Smucker writes what could be considered "dark pop" songs: catchy melodies in minor keys, lyrics that masterfully infuse sad stories with tiny flecks of humor
and hope. She performs in diverse configurations and contexts, but her songs have a consistent melodic edge. "Woven with a sort of defiant sadness, a square-jawed resilience"
(Fly Magazine), her compositions often start down a familiar road but, through a series of subtle twists and curves, deliver the listener to an unexpected destination.

• DECEMBER 2009 •
FEATURED ARTIST: Matt Kennedy
Matt’s work is an exploration of construction and decay, strength and fragility, and reflects upon the forces of life, time, and balance. Juxtapositions of image, structure,
and technique form a vocabulary through which he develops his ideas. Matt uses typography in the form of transfer lettering as a drawing process to build a new structure
from parts of existing mundane symbols. Combining this technique with photography, drawing, and computer generated imagery builds a new visual space
and a contextual world which is introspective and unexpectedly balanced. Digital techniques provide the means to give new context to environments that surrounds Matt.
This combination of pristine digital qualities and the realities of visual elements taken from a world whose rough edges provide endless engaging possibilities allows
Matt to explore, reflect upon, and build new images from a familiar environment.
